So I heard that Freedos has the capability to handle media files such as mp3 etc. I thought this was a new feature, until I looked up Windows Media player and found it came from an earlier version simply called Media Player. So how well does this work with Dos and screenreaders? Do you know of a better one? Can it or the one you suggest handle mp3s? Thanks.

Download the latest version of windows media player or winamp and that should take care of your question. I think winamp, the free download is up to 5 or 6 and windows mp is up to version 11.

No WMP is up to version 12, I think; 12 only comes with Windows 7 Or get Foobar2000, much much, lighter then Winamp, Foobar2000 is about 2 megs in size compared to WMP that is like 20 or so megs, and Winamp that is about 6 or so. to learn more about foobar2000, <aHref="http://www.foobar2000.org">">click this link "

Hope this link works, haven't did HTML in a long long, time

Dang it, did the link all wrong, ah well. Time to brush up on HTML skills. And DOS is history now, you're better going off with Linux. If you're really scared about breaking something, install Vmware and there you go.

We've tried going with that route with her, she's hellbent on using things of the past.

MP3 was invented after most versions of DOS went defunct. Nobody on here knows anything about Dr. Dos and none of us who do this shit for a living are gonna bother.

I'd say winamp all the time, but no idea if it supports dos. The only reason I've got windows media player is for ripping cd's. Mind you, I can't seem to do that in windows 7. Does anyone know why I can't rip cd's with media player and win 7?

It does not support doss, as winamp wasn't even being thought about during doss's time.
